Fallout Dust

Fallout dust is a term given for the process used to determine the dust load in the atmosphere that falls out on your area of liability.

Various methods are applied in South Africa today, most trying to follow the ATSM D1739, from where the South African National Standard SANS 1929 was derived.

A much more advanced and scientific approached is followed by making use of the DustWatch system, designed by Gerry Kuhn Environmental. This method allows the determination of dust fallout origin. A further service is called microscan, where the content of the fallout dust is microscopically analysed and element analysis performed. PM10 particle size fractional analysis can thereafter be done if required.

DustWatch units are deployed internationally with great success.
